Plans
for the winter 2011/2012
February
2012-Start of feb Ripped open my box arrived by courier...yep its
my new kit. A 152 Machette and a 147 Kink stoked on this years graphix! Long
weekend this weekend so heading up Glenshee from Monday to Wednesday to test
out my new boards.
Feb 18/19th Training with Team GB,
Ben Kinnear is our coach, well looking forward to that!
to date- Looking forward to
meeting up with Billy in Laax for the BEO, first time competing there...so
just going to ride my best and represent! I'll only be home 3 weeks then Ill
be heading back to Laax for the British Championships (and to hang with Will
and the crew at the RIDE tent )
No time for
school....just shreddin' !
January
2012- Found out that I've been lucky enough to be selected to
compete in the Burton European next month and enjoyed a rad trip to Avoriaz
with Jamie Trinder, Henry Shakleton and Just snowboard Camps, an amazing
week of snowy days- got front flips off the bench in the stash dialled
.........and the stash is sick! Im definitely going back to Avoriaz.
December
2011- Start of the month I made up my RIDE wishlist from the 2013
catalog soo much to chose from....Christmas got a Banshee Bungee, stoked but
no snow in Scotland to have an urban sesh so flinging myself up my drive is
quite good fun for now.
Scottish Invitational was a good sesh on princess street, some rad rail
shredding going on that day.
Also attended my 1st Team GB training camp held in Glasgow trained by Ben
Kinnear, a day at Sno Zone working on technical shizzle followed by a kicker
sesh on the Sunday at Bearsden and a sesh at the gym - tiring weekend but
enjoyed it.
October
2011- Flew to London again to meet Travis Rice at the Art of
Flight premiere, he's a nice guy Billy Morgan was there too....and Billy -
he just wanted to touch Travis ! Earned the nickname Lego
from Billy who said I have hair like a lego man.. I've been given Scottish
Elite status and Elite Team Gb Status...stoked with that!
September
2011- I flew to London to compete in the London Invitational at
Earls Court, which was a huge sno flex kicker/hip. Id never hit anything
like it before but it was sick. Riding with top 10 boarders from the British
Championships was rad.
I've
also been invited out to Just snowboard camps http://www.just-snowboard.com which
is a camp out in Morzine which Quiksilver are involved in. I'll be the
guest rider for the week, stoaked! So trying to figure out which
dates fits in with the rest of my plans.
December -
Received confirmation of a support grant from Dr Hellen Reith's Trust -
stoaked! Thank you!
Some older
stuff .........
October
20th-22nd
Brits London
Invitational- I was invited as one of Britain's top 10 snowboarders to
compete in the Invitational held in London's Earls Court during the 2011 ski
and snowboard show. Me and my mum flew down to London on Thursday 20th
October and made our way to take a look at the snowflex kicker hip I
would be competing on the next day. The kicker was huge, Spencer
Claridge, the organiser let me walk up the 81 steps
to reach the top to scope it out. I met up with David Bilsland,
wandered round the show went on the bucking bronco and watched the one
and only James Thorne entertain the crowds (dressed as wonderwoman) commentating
on the fancy dress demo on the hip kicker.
On the
Friday morning I got to hit the kicker for a few practice runs, after a few
straight airs I got the hang of it and everyone was stoaked. There was a
good Scottish crew there representing and it was good to ride with my
quiksilver team mate Billy Morgan . It was rad to finally meet James
Stentiford from Quiksilver and he gave me a Travis Rice
jacket! The qualifers came and we had 2 runs each. For my
first run I did a huge method and my 2nd a backside 7 which
unfortunately didn't go the way Id practiced it.

real snow from sno zone. This is the events second year run by
Snowsport Scotland, last years set up was sick !
I got the
email to say Id made it into Team GB- stoaked! Not only on the team
but I've been awarded Elite status which means Ill also have the
opportunity to train with the big guns on the full team.
wednesday
12th october- Its the RIDE board test, with Granite
Reef at snowsport centre today so I headed down to the slope to
meet up with Will Lenton from RIDE and help him set up. The board test
started at 1pm and David Wallace and the student guys were trying out next
seasons boards, freestyle night started at 5pm so we were busy all
evening til closing time. Matt Burt from RIDE was there
too it was rad catching up with him. Huge thanks to Matt who gave me
my sponsorship with RIDE a few years back. Will and Sophie Addison
came back after the boardtest, will stayed overnight. The next morning
I went with Will to Granite Reef to do the staff training which was good to
hear all the technical stuff and get to see Matt and Will before they headed
off.
